“With AI, we’re writing the next chapter of music.”

November 26, 2024 Posted by Director Books, Art & Expression, Progress & Principles, Robotics & AI, Video

NVIDIA Research introduces new sounds never heard before with their new Generative AI audio transformer, Fuggatto.

“The history of music is also a history of technology. The electric guitar gave the world rock and roll. When the sampler showed up, hip-hop was born,” said Ido Zmishlany, a multi-platinum producer and songwriter. “With AI, we’re writing the next chapter of music. We have a new instrument, a new tool for making music — and that’s super exciting.”

Fugatto (short for Foundational Generative Audio Transformer Opus 1), a new generative AI model from NVIDIA, can create any combination of music, voices and sounds. It can generate a music snippet based on a text prompt, remove or add instruments from an existing song, change the accent or emotion in a voice — even let people produce sounds never heard before such as the merging of a dog barking and a saxaphone.

Many AI Audio tools already take text prompts and turn them into audio tracks. Adobe and Meta have been promoting their audio models to the movie industry. Last month, Meta debuted Movie Gen,which can generate soundscapes for AI-generated films.
