The American Law Institute–European Law Institute (ELI) Principles for the Governance of Biometrics: this is the second joint project of the American Law Institute and European Law Institute, to establish principles for governing responsible biometric data use, including facial recognition, DNA, whether for identification or inferences about individuals across various jurisdictions like the U.S., Europe, and the UK.
Scope: Defining key terms, assessing benefits and risks, and addressing regulatory gaps and principles for alignment
Outcome: A diverse team of legal, technical, and ethics experts will formulate broad standards for policymakers globally, fostering responsible biometric data practices.
