From international collaboration while designing aircraft to Japanese babies in a government run nursery, digital twining is the wave of the future!
But what is it?
Date and Venue: TBD
With an average of twenty-two “smart devices” connected to the Internet of Things (IoT) per US home, there is a lot of data collection going on. What is your data being used for? Did you consent to the collection and use of that data? And for what purpose?
What if your data was being compiled to create you and your family’s digital twins? Digital Twins are compilations of data that can be shared with other ‘stake holders’ in a project. A stake holder may be a financial backer of a project or team of researchers at a different company far away who are working on a project with you — like how this aerospace company develops jet engines. Or the stake holder might be you as you work with your doctor about how a specific treatment might affect you or a relative based on the rest of the data contained in your digital twin file. And naturally, it could even be your government which has been compiling DNA datasets for multiple purposes.
All sorts of data sets about you can be overlaid and flesh out a more complete version of you for scientific and market research. Everything from your academic performance and water usage to the genre of movies you enjoy watching. Interestingly, the digital twin can be sold and resold and resold again without you ever knowing it even existed. It’s just faceless information…about you.
The best digital twins contain medical information. These are the most cherished and expensive type of digital twin. They can be used in simulations to better understand very personalized drug interactions or how you might respond to a medical procedure or treatment. With advanced computing power and machine learning Artificial Intelligence is able to quickly ascertain what will and will not be beneficial for you. Digital Twins may evolve to become more intimately associated with the real person….
